EEG and UMinhoExec Alumni Reunite at Alumni Event

On 6 June, the School of Economics and Management (EEG) hosted an alumni gathering, bringing together former students from both EEG and UMinhoExec to strengthen the connection between the School and its community of graduates across different generations. Held at the Panoramic Restaurant of the University of Minho, the event also marked the 9th anniversary of UMinhoExec.

The event opened with a speech by Cláudia Simões, President of EEG, who highlighted the importance of the alumni community to the School’s ongoing projects. She encouraged graduates to become actively involved in initiatives involving business leaders, mentoring programmes, and networking events such as this one. She also emphasised the role of UMinhoExec within EEG and its contribution to enhancing the quality and reputation of the School’s executive education offering.

This was followed by a panel discussion entitled “Professional Careers and Lifelong Learning”, featuring Tiago Marques Pereira, Chief Financial Officer of the JPM Group, and Johan Stevens, Executive Director of Sanitop. The discussion was moderated by Maria do Céu Pinto Arena, Vice-President of EEG. The celebration of UMinhoExec’s ninth anniversary included an address by Beatriz Casais, Director of UMinhoExec, who reflected on the unit’s achievements, including the expansion of its programme portfolio, international recognition, strategic partnerships, ongoing projects, and its contribution to developing human capital at both regional and national levels. The event concluded with closing remarks from Guilherme Pereira, Vice-Rector for Institutional Evaluation and Special Projects at the University of Minho, followed by a networking cocktail that provided attendees with the opportunity to reconnect and exchange experiences.

Nearly 100 participants attended the event, including alumni from undergraduate, master’s, doctoral, and UMinhoExec Executive Education programmes, EEG faculty members, UMinhoExec trainers, company representatives, and other invited guests. The gathering offered former students the opportunity to reconnect, strengthen professional relationships, and revisit fond memories of their time at EEG and UMinhoExec.
